Reddy And Happy To Turn 6

Reddy Bikeshare, in partnership with Independent Health, is turning six years old next week (July 21, to be precise) and we’re celebrating this milestone by giving back to bikeshare members and the biking community who has supported us through our growth.

Every year, Reddy Bikeshare sponsors a Monday Slow Roll ride, inviting folks to learn about our local bikeshare network along a 10-mile supported bike ride and after-party. This year’s Reddy Ride is coming up Monday, July 18, at the Hertel Art Alley, a mural-filled alley south of Hertel Avenue, stretching between Traymore Street and Colvin Avenue.

As a post-ride special, we’re partnering with a local healthy food company that is committed to supporting Slow Roll’s ability to convene free and safe community bike rides throughout the city of Buffalo and Western New York. Near the end of Monday’s after-party, JECA Bars and Reddy Bikeshare will be raffling off limited-edition merchandise manufactured by another locally based company, ORO Sports USA. The Wide Cool Cuffs is a piece of forearm apparel designed to cool the body down in hot outdoor weather and during athletic activities–pedaling a bike being one of them.

We’ll be raffling 30 pairs of wide cool cuffs branded with JECA’s and Reddy’s logo to folks who earn a ticket in one of three ways.

  1. Visit the Reddy tent before or after the ride and show that you are an active member of Reddy Bikeshare. Or visit the tent and renew your membership or sign-up with a special discount code.

  2. Ride a Reddy Bike during the Slow Roll and earn another raffle ticket at our tent.

  3. Visit the JECA Bars Tent beside us and buy a three-bar pack and earn a ticket. A dollar from every bar sold is donated to Slow Roll.

    1. Earn a second ticket by JECA Bars if follow @jeca_vegan on instagram and sign up for our mailing list at www.jecabar.com

The Slow Roll after party will also include the things we love: food from Imperial Pizza, Breva Kitchen and more; Buffalocal drinks from Community Beer Works, Chateau Buffalo and Libby's Lemonade; live music and fellowship.

The winning raffle tickets will be announced around 8:45 PM. Folks who miss out on the after party can find whether their ticket won a wide cool cuff on either of JECA or Reddy’s Instagram and Facebook pages.

The Reddy Team has more events planned in concert with our birthday week.

  • Friday Roll-Up, 5-7 PM, Friday, July 15, Bar Della Citta, 1488 Hertel Ave:  A trivia and happy hour weekly special co-hosted by Slow Roll and Community Beer Works that previews the theme of the Monday Slow Roll at a nearby bar. Our Communications and Marketing Coordinator, and fellow Squad member, Simon Husted, will be dishing out some trivia about bikeshare.

  • Healing By The Water, Thursday, July 21, 5 PM to 8 PM, Broderick Park: Every Thursday and Sunday, Friends of Broderick Park hosts an event series of live music, food and vendors. We’ll be handing out small pastries and refreshments in celebration of our birthday. If you haven’t visited Broderick Park’s Healing By The Water, this would be a great time to start.

  • Niagara Falls Pedal Party II, Saturday, July 23, 2616 Highland Ave, Niagara Falls: Bringing Birthday love to Niagara Falls by partnering with Slow Roll on the second Niagara Falls pedal party of the year.
