Reddy Bikeshare expands 7 more stations in Buffalo

JUNE 17, 2025  – Reddy Bikeshare, in partnership with Independent Health, proudly announces a major expansion in conjunction with a grant-funded effort to implement healthy and affordable transportation solutions across underserved neighborhoods on Buffalo’s East Side.

Shared Mobility Inc., the non-profit organization that operates the bikeshare network, completed the installation of 7 new stations earlier this month. People can now find and unlock Reddy Bikes at Johnnie B Wiley Stadium, Erie County Medical Center, Agassiz Circle in Delaware Park, the Neighborhood Health Center's Mattina location at 300 Niagara St, battery manufacturing plant Viridi at 984 E Delavan Ave, and NFTA Metro’s Utica and Humboldt-Hospital Metro Stations. With this latest expansion, the Reddy Bikeshare network now spans 128 stations and 520 bikes across Buffalo to Niagara Falls. Nearly one-fifth of the fleet consists of Reddy+ Bikes, Reddy’s pedal-assist e-bikes that make riding longer distances and up hills more accessible and enjoyable.

The new ECMC station is one of seven stations that feature our new racks this year!

“The installation of more Reddy bike stations is testament to the popularity and importance of this bike share program for our city and region,” said Kathy Glieco, vice president, marketing, Independent Health. “Our Reddy Bikeshare program is more than just a mode of transportation; it’s a movement toward healthier communities and a sustainable future. By providing access to convenient and eco-friendly mobility options, we’re also empowering citizens to embrace active lifestyles and adding to the vibrancy of our city.”

This expansion also introduces a new style of bike rack into the system, designed to serve both Reddy Bikes and personal bicycles. These durable racks, drilled into concrete, are now installed at ECMC, Johnnie B Wiley Stadium, and Neighborhood Health Center's Mattina location on Niagara Street. Additionally, existing stations at The Foundry, GObike’s Community Workshop at 313 Broadway, and Porter & Normal have been upgraded with the new racks to improve stability and user experience.

“The new bike racks aren’t just giving stations a fresh new look–they’re expanding parking options for all bikes,” said Simon Husted, marketing and communications coordinator for the bikeshare network. “Installing these new racks won’t work at every station, but they will make a meaningful impact in expanding our footprint of bikeshare in the 716.”

Most of this expansion is in conjunction with Clean Mobility Buffalo,  an initiative funded by the New York Clean Transportation Prizes supported by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). Over the past two years, Reddy Bikeshare has played a major role in a multi-organizational initiative to enhance mobility options for people who live, work, or visit Buffalo’s East Side. With this latest wave of station additions and upgrades, Reddy aims to expand its footprint in the area. Riders can also expect to see more Reddy+ Bikes distributed across the East Side, increasing convenience and reducing barriers to sustainable, active transportation.

"Expanding access to Reddy Bikeshare is great news for our city—for both residents and visitors” said City of Buffalo Mayor Christopher P. Scanlon “Whether commuting, connecting to transit, or enjoying a ride through our parks, this expansion promotes active lifestyles and encourages everyone to get out and experience the vibrancy of our city.”

Since launching 9 years ago, Reddy Bikeshare has been working with NFTA-Metro to provide greater bikeshare access to serve transit riders getting off the train or bus. This latest expansion means riders leaving any Metro Rail station will be able to find a Reddy Bike either just outside the station door, or a very quick walk away.

“At NFTA-Metro, we view our partnership with Reddy Bike as a vital extension of our system,” Said Public Transit Director James Morrell. “ It better connects riders to transit hubs, supports a more seamless, sustainable travel experience for our riders.”

In addition to these East Side locations,  Reddy Bikeshare has been collaborating with Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy on creating more bikeshare access in the parks. With this year’s expansion comes a new station in Delaware Park at Agassiz Circle. The Reddy Bikeshare team and Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy are working on finding more places to add additional Reddy Bikeshare stations in the parks.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Reddy Bikeshare to make it easier than ever for people visiting Delaware Park to hop on a bike—whether they’re looking for a fun ride through the park or need a quick, convenient way to get around," said Catie Stephenson, Executive Director of Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy.

Reddy Bikeshare is working on another wave of station installations later this year, further strengthening its commitment to connecting underserved neighborhoods through smart, clean mobility solutions.
